Lincoln: In 1865, as the American Civil War winds inexorably toward conclusion, U.S. president Abraham Lincoln endeavors to achieve passage of the landmark constitutional amendment which will forever ban slavery from the United States. However, his task is a race against time, for peace may come at any time, and if it comes before the amendment is passed, the returning southern states will stop it before it can become law. Lincoln must, by almost any means possible, obtain enough votes from a recalcitrant Congress before peace arrives and it is too late. Yet the president is torn, as an early peace would save thousands of lives. Really LOVED this movie. Daniel Day-Lewis did an outstanding job and I wouldn't expect anything less from Steven Spielberg!! 100/10

I loved this movie. For those of you who are expecting this to be about the civil war and action flick it is not that. It is not a war movie, it is a political movie and about the 13th amendment to end slavery. If you dont like political scope movies then you may not like this. I believe Daniel Day Lewis did an excellent job portraying Lincoln in this movie. The quality is so so but the historical references is great and the acting really does transform you back into the period.

Excellant! Even with the poor quality it gave it that long ago feel.DDlewis did a superb job portraying Lincon,i wonder if they had some kind of records of lincons manuerisms .can,t wait for better quality ,i,ll def watch again.

Rottingdog, you fail to take into account the attitude of the times! At that time Lincoln was considered very progressive and whether you think his intentions were admirable or not, the fact is, it's because of Lincoln that blacks were freed from slavery as a people and you can try to diminsh this all you want, but intelligent people who look at the totality of the times and what was done, agree that Lincoln did indeed end slavery and for you to try and dismiss this sir, is ridiculous and a view in such a minority that Navada is right.... you shouldn't be taken seriously!

Great movie. Day-Lewis really did a Abe Lincoln masterfully. I will say this movie is less about Abe and more about the Emancipation Proclamation. Still a worthy watch if you like political movies during a time of war.

With a film like this, you want to like it - but it was just not for me. I imagine that political people will enjoy it, as well as a certain segment of the male population. Sadly, it just bored me to tears. I am interested in films that depict this period in history, and for those who feel as I do about this film (or just want to watch something good), might I suggest The Conspirator(http://www.1channel.ch/watch-1431843-The-Conspirator) with James McAvoy. McAvoy plays a lawyer who defends the only woman accused of assassinating Lincoln. I personally thought it was very well done. I'm just disappointed that I couldn't enjoy Lincoln.

This is sad that people are still worshiping this guy, He was the worst president in U.S. history and the only good thing to come from his presidency was the end of slavery. He arrested over 3000 journalist, editors, and publishers who spoke out against the war or the government, Forced people into servitude, sent the military to Maryland to arrest the entire legislature for passing legislation he didn't agree with removing the states rights. He stated that he didn't care about freeing the slaves and was the person instrumental in trying to send slaves back to Africa.
