HUNTINGTON BEACH STREET FAIR, CALIFORNIA

Looking for a way to pass the time on Tuesday nights? Try checking out the street fair and Farmer’s Market on Main St (from Orange to PCH) for some fun. The street fair, sponsored by the Downtown Merchants, is from 5pm to 9pm every Tuesday night. You can buy a multitude of stuff, including bikes, beef jerky and flowers, all while strolling along and enjoying street performances.

Don’t feel shy about bringing your dog or even your kids! Tons of people walk their pooches around, and the kids will have lots to do. Tiny tots can take a train ride around ($3), venture down a huge inflated slide/bounce house, or just dance to the music from the performers.

If hunger strikes, grab yourself a taste of London with some fish and chips, or stock up for the week with fresh veggies and fruits. I especially liked the cakes and buns at Dolce Monachelli’s booth. Try sharing one of the Chocolate Decadence buns with your friends to ease caloric-induced guilt ($3 for one or $5 for two).

Take a look at some of the local artwork, like Paul Dollins’ colorful and intriguing paintings. You can pick up a print of his work for $20. Try browsing the booths with vintage pictures of HB so you can decorate your place with local history.

You’ll be sure to enjoy yourself here, and after all the festivities end, meander into Killarney's for a cider or beer while you watch the game, or sit out on the patio and watch the crowds go by. So head on down and enjoy yourself and the fantastic weather!
